Students are expected to read for a minimum of 20 minutes each night.
Students will be getting their new lists of words starting Monday, October 16. Depending on the group they are in, they will begin a 7 day cycle through their word study practice. Students will be given time in class to do most of these activities, but may need to complete at home on occasion.
Day 1- Word Search
Day 2- Meet with teacher to discuss word sort and what pattern they will be working on.
Day 3- Work on their sort handout (given out during day 2 of meeting with teacher).
Day 4- Spellingcity.com or another word study game.
Day 5- Writing practice (sentences, paragraph writing, write a short story, acrostic poetry, etc.).
Day 6- Choice (choose an activity from the bin in our room or an activity from the list handed out in class).
Day 7- Assessment (partner up with someone from the class and test each). You also will turn in your packet including: word study notebook, word search, sort handout, writing practice, and any choice activities.
