As the building level Special Education Coordinator for Reeds Ferry School, I bring a great deal of experience to this position. I have worked in NH public schools for close to 40 years! Yikes!
Starting my career as an itinerant speech pathologist for several school districts including Merrimack and SAU 19, I stayed on full time with SAU 19 for 10 years. I then joined SAU 24 for 13 years in the Weare schools. During those years, I worked not only as a speech pathologist directly with students but also supervised speech assistants, developed and oversaw special education programs, served as LEA, attended court and out of district meetings, and was head teacher. Invested in the community, I also participated in the parent/teacher association, served on building committees, John Stark reaccreditation committees, and a myriad of activities as both my daughters attended the Weare and John Stark School Districts.
During this time, as I had always enjoyed the legal and compliance part of special education and frequently wore the hat, I became certified as a Special Education Administrator and knew that this was what I wanted to do next.
It boggles my mind that I have been in SAU 26 as Special Education Coordinator for 17 years. As Merrimack prides itself on growing their staff, I returned to school for a master’s in educational leadership, became certified as a principal, and continue to participate on multiple district-wide and building committees. My commitment to Merrimack has been a long one. I have history with many parents and families and strive to maintain those relationships.
